Digital and Film Wedding Photographer covering Brighton, Worthing and East Sussex
Hi! I’m Toby — a wedding photographer who loves working with both film and digital cameras. By mixing the two, I can give you a beautiful, varied collection of images that really reflects your day.
I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings for hundreds of wonderful couples over the last 20 years. Every celebration still feels special.
My aim is to create a set of photos that feels truly “you”. I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration. I love it when couples bring something fun or a little quirky to their plans — it’s the perfect chance to get creative together.
I focus on capturing natural, honest moments that show the warmth, humour, and personality of your relationship. I adore film for its classic tones and timeless feel, but I pair it with digital whenever it adds something extra or gives you a colour option alongside black and white film.
“We LOVE the pictures!! Thank you for capturing the day so well, we really appreciate everything you did to make us feel so comfortable and happy.” Molly & Will

Thank you so much TobyPosted on Joanna NiziolTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It's always a bit of a punt trying to find someone you trust to provide a service, but I'm so glad that we put our faith in Toby to do our wedding photos as we're delighted with them. We had a very small wedding (6 people only!) and so wanted just a few good quality photos of the ceremony and our guests to remember it by without any of us having to worry about taking the photos ourselves. Toby did this and more, we had a brief meeting with him beforehand at the venue so he could plan the shots and on the day he was punctual and non-intrusive whilst managing to capture some really good pictures of us and our guests. He was there after the ceremony to get some good photos of us in the garden and was in no rush to leave. Just two weeks after the wedding and we received all of the photos, some taken on his digital camera and some from an analogue medium format camera that he'd digitised, too. It was nice seeing a mixture of colour and black and white photos. The whole lot were shared with us so the guests could download copies as well. There was no hard-selling of photo books, or prints that some other photographers do and we got exactly what we wanted for a very fair price. I would thoroughly recommend Tobias Key Photography to anyone for any photography projects they have.Posted on Danny HyettTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. So impressed with the service provided by Toby. From the moment we first chatted on zoom I knew he was a good fit for us. He was very professional but adapted to our style and made us feel very relaxed. On the day he was very prompt and fitted into the day helping everything to go smoothly and getting just the right amount of pictures for us to capture the day without taking us away from the day too much or making things too false and staged. Seeing the photos was just amazing, brilliant quality photos capturing all the parts of our perfect day. We have had so many positive comments about the pictures and we are so happy with them, thank you!Posted on Stephanie EdmondsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. How I work
In my 20 years as a photographer, I’ve picked up three essentials: empathy, intentionality… and a the importance of a comfortable pair of shoes pair of shoes!
When I’m with you on your wedding day, I like to blend into the background so I can catch real, unposed moments as they naturally unfold.
When it’s time for group photos, I’m happy to take the lead — keeping things organised, relaxed, and quick so you’re not stuck posing forever.
More than anything, I want you to enjoy your day. When you’re having a great time, memorable photographs always follow.
Meeting Me
I love having a chat with couples before they decide to book me — it’s such an important part of the process.
Creating wedding photos that feel personal starts with getting to know the people in front of my camera. Every couple is different, and I want your images to reflect that.
Many of the couples I work with have never hired a photographer before, so it’s totally normal if you’re unsure about how it all works. My role is to listen to what you’re imagining and help turn that into something real.
I’m always happy to answer questions and guide you through anything you’re curious about. If you’d like to talk things through, just reach out and we can set up an appointment.

FAQ's
Most peak time Saturdays start to get booked up around 12 months in advance, but is always worth enquiring even if your booking is quite last minute, especially if you have a smaller midweek wedding I might be able to squeeze in.
When I book in a couple, I always agree to cover a fixed list of events. Usually bridal preparations until half an hour after the first dance. The timings are approximate because weddings can often run late through no fault of the bride and groom. The last thing I want is for couples to worry that I am going to leave before a key event.
After the wedding is over, it is time I hand develop and scan all black and white films personally and take colour film to my lab in Brighton. Digital files are backed up and uploaded to Lightroom along with the film scans. I pick out the good ones and start editing them. In terms of man hours, this accounts for the bulk of the work for any wedding photographer. Each wedding takes a week of work to edit properly. Turnaround of images is usually around 4 weeks but I am happy to supply a small selection a few days after the wedding if you want to post on social media.

About Me
I’m Toby and I live in the historic city of Chichester with my wife and family. We moved down from London just over fifteen years ago and can’t imagine living anywhere else now. I was lucky enough to grow up in a pub so I am used to getting on with people from all walks of life, working funny hours and standing up all day!
I have always had a passion for creativity, but more than anything else I think photography is about making connections. If people don’t enjoy working with you, it doesn’t really matter how good the pictures are.
I studied photojournalism at Cardiff University in the mid 90’s and have been working in various genres of photography ever since. I have been a Sussex Wedding Photographer for 15 years and love the challenge of a fast paced environment where no two days are the same.
