Digital and Film Wedding Photographer covering Brighton, Worthing and East Sussex

Hi! I’m Toby — a wedding photographer who loves working with both film and digital cameras. By mixing the two, I can give you a beautiful, varied collection of images that really reflects your day.

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings for hundreds of wonderful couples over the last 20 years. Every celebration still feels special.

My aim is to create a set of photos that feels truly “you”.  I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration. I love it when couples bring something fun or a little quirky to their plans — it’s the perfect chance to get creative together.

I focus on capturing natural, honest moments that show the warmth, humour, and personality of your relationship. I adore film for its classic tones and timeless feel, but I pair it with digital whenever it adds something extra or gives you a colour option alongside black and white film.

“We LOVE the pictures!! Thank you for capturing the day so well, we really appreciate everything you did to make us feel so comfortable and happy.”  Molly & Will

How I work

In my 20 years as a photographer, I’ve picked up three essentials: empathy, intentionality… and a the importance of a comfortable pair of shoes pair of shoes!

When I’m with you on your wedding day, I like to blend into the background so I can catch  real, unposed moments as they naturally unfold.

When it’s time for group photos, I’m happy to take the lead — keeping things organised, relaxed, and quick so you’re not stuck posing forever.

More than anything, I want you to enjoy your day. When you’re having a great time, memorable photographs always follow.

Meeting Me

I love having a chat with couples before they decide to book me — it’s such an important part of the process.

Creating wedding photos that feel personal starts with getting to know the people in front of my camera. Every couple is different, and I want your images to reflect that.

Many of the couples I work with have never hired a photographer before, so it’s totally normal if you’re unsure about how it all works. My role is to listen to what you’re imagining and help turn that into something real.

I’m always happy to answer questions and guide you through anything you’re curious about. If you’d like to talk things through, just reach out and we can set up an appointment.

Get in Touch

I am always happy to hear from new clients and I try to answer emails straight away. Tell me about your plans and I can check availability and we can take it from there.

Investment

Every wedding is different. So I like to create bespoke packages for every client. I usually do this via a personal consultation to provide the best possible value. I publish guide prices on my investment page.

FAQ's

Most peak time Saturdays start to get booked up around 12 months in advance, but is always worth enquiring even if your booking is quite last minute, especially if you have a smaller midweek wedding I might be able to squeeze in.

When I book in a couple, I always agree to cover a fixed list of events. Usually bridal preparations until half an hour after the first dance. The timings are approximate because weddings can often run late through no fault of the bride and groom. The last thing I want is for couples to worry that I am going to leave before a key event.

After the wedding is over, it is time I hand develop and scan all black and white films personally and take colour film to my lab in Brighton. Digital files are backed up and uploaded to Lightroom along with the film scans.  I pick out the good ones and start editing them. In terms of man hours, this accounts for the bulk of the work for any wedding photographer. Each wedding takes a week of work to edit properly. Turnaround of images is usually around 4 weeks but I am happy to supply a small selection a few days after the wedding if you want to post on social media.

About Me

I’m Toby and I live in the historic city of Chichester with my wife and family. We moved down from London just over fifteen years ago and can’t imagine living anywhere else now. I was lucky enough to grow up in a pub so I am used to getting on with people from all walks of life, working funny hours and standing up all day!

I have always had a passion for creativity, but more than anything else I think photography is about making connections. If people don’t enjoy working with you, it doesn’t really matter how good the pictures are.

I studied photojournalism at Cardiff University in the mid 90’s and have been working in various genres of photography ever since. I have been a Sussex Wedding Photographer for 15 years and love the challenge of a fast paced environment where no two days are the same.
